Bicyclist Dies After Collision with Jeep on Highway 113 in Yolo County

A bicyclist died on Monday after being hit by a Jeep in Yolo County, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The incident occurred just after 11:30 a.m. on Highway 113, near County Road 102 in Knights Landing, as reported by Officer Rodney Fitzhugh, a spokesperson for the CHP’s Woodland office.

The driver of a black Jeep was heading east on County Road 102, while the bicyclist was riding on the right-hand shoulder in the same direction.

For unknown reasons, the bicyclist swerved in front of the Jeep, leading to the collision, according to Fitzhugh.

The bicyclist, who has not yet been identified, was taken to a hospital but did not survive. The Yolo County coroner’s office is expected to release the victim’s identity.

No one in the Jeep was injured, and drugs or alcohol were not factors in the crash, Fitzhugh added.
