CASS COUNTY, Mich. – Michigan’s annual longest garage sale began this Friday and will run through Sunday. Stretching over 200 miles along US 12 Heritage Trail, the event features estate sales set up every few minutes.
Participants say the sale is special for fostering connections and giving old items new life. Shopper Stephanie Reeves appreciates the social aspect and variety of items available.
“It’s a great social event. You meet people you wouldn’t usually talk to and see a mix of antiques and new things. There’s something for everyone,” said Reeves.
Antique shop owner and auctioneer Roni Albert sees the sale as a chance to teach younger generations about the value of antiques.
“It’s part of our history. We’re losing beautiful pieces from our past, and it’s our job to preserve and share them with future generations,” said Albert.
The event creates heavy traffic along US 12, with cars parked everywhere. If you’re attending on Sunday, be mindful of where you park and watch for pedestrians.
